The Mission
To communicate and assist with Procurement Director, Field Department, and outside growers/suppliers/drivers to deliver high quality raw materials to the Stahlbush processing plant. This role covers the documentation, planning, and coordination required to deliver materials in compliance with sustainable, organic, GAP, FSMA, SQF, DOT, and any other required 3rd party audit or process.
Reporting Relationships
This position will report directly to the Director of Procurement. The employee will work closely with multiple departments throughout the company along with outside growers/suppliers/contractors.
Outcomes
  • Proactively resolve any issues related to raw product quality or delivery in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Conduct internal audits of documentation to ensure compliance with third-party certification standards.
  • Complete weight sheets for received products, ensuring all data aligns with traceability standards and providing accurate reports to Accounts Payable.
  • Work with Procurement team to create and negotiate contracts with outside suppliers and growers to secure raw materials.
  • Become an expert in our internal Transportation Management System (LOADS) to assist in transportation responsibilities, including creating, editing, and checking in shipments.
  • Request freight quotes and issue Purchase Orders (POs) for inbound raw materials using the SIFI LOADS program and schedule shipments with vendors.
  • Coordinate outside contract drivers and brokers to facilitate harvested crops for delivery to the processing plant.
  • Assist the Field Department in pulling crop, soil, and moisture samples from the field.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specifications for raw products.
  • Assist in DMV and DOT related tasks, including vehicle registrations, insurance cards, and overweight/over-width permits.
  • Support and optimize Stahlbush sustainability initiatives to align with company mission statement.
  • This position has been identified as holding responsibility for food safety and quality of the company. This responsibility extends over all shifts.
  • During the absence, the following position serves as coverage to this position: Director of Procurement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred
  • Passion to pursue a career in the agricultural, supply chain, or food production industry
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word 
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and improve processes
  • Proficiency in procurement processes, vendor negotiations, and contract management
  • Basic understanding of farming practices and the nature of the industry
  • Willingness to learn current market pricing, food safety, and agriculture certifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
General office environment with minimal physical effort. Requires sitting at a desk for majority of workday, but when needed, there will be periods of time work is performed outside.
